You Deserve a Better Impact Investing Podcast - Season One Trailer

Impact Investing Roadshow wants to transform the way we discuss impact investing.

Unlike typical investment podcasts with rambling interviews and scripted questions, the Roadshow features in-depth conversations with impact investment fund managers, focusing on individual deals.

Inspired by the 'Song Exploder' podcast format, the Roadshow extracts the essence of an impact fund manager's investment thesis, impact mission, and deal execution by drilling deep into a single deal.

Season one will launch in early summer 2025.

00:00 - Welcome

Podcasts are an amazing medium for sharing knowledge about investing of all kinds, especially impact investing. The problem is most of them suck.

You've got interviewers who let guests ramble on forever. You get scripted questions jammed in where they don't belong, and then the obvious follow-up questions don't even get asked. And maybe worst of all, you listen to guests who are simply on the show because they were willing and available and the host had to fill a slot for that week.

I thought Impact investors deserved better, so I'm creating impact investing roadshow. Now my initial vision was to create something where you, the listener, would be a fly on the wall at first meetings between gps and potential LPs, like when gps are on a roadshow raising capital.

However, I realized the problem with that vision was that on roadshows, GPS tend to fire up the PowerPoint slides and go into automated pitch mode, and frankly, recording boring zoom meetings is not my idea of fun.

But then I had a blinding flash of the obvious individual deals are what we talk about in real life. Why not talk about them on a podcast?

I was inspired by a show called Song Exploder. It's a podcast that gives you a fascinating look inside a musician's creative process by dissecting the creation of one single song. It's an infinitely better approach. I mean, imagine for a moment, Paul McCartney presenting a PowerPoint deck with bullet points about his creative process for writing Hey Jude. I mean, yuck, right?

So on impact investing roadshow, we're going to bring impact investment fund managers to you, just like they're on a road show. But instead of staring at slides in a virtual conference room, we're going to sit down over a virtual coffee or beer with one manager and have an in-depth conversation about one deal.

I'm Mark King, your roadshow tour guide, and I am over the top excited about launching this show. I do hope you'll join us for season one, which will be dropping in early summer 2025.
